CM Siddaramaiah takes Legal Route Over Drought Relief

Bengaluru:  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Saturday that the state government has filed a writ petition against the Union government for withholding drought relief funds.

The petition, filed in the Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Constitution, has been accepted by the apex court. Siddaramaiah emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that farmers cannot wait any longer for the Rs 4,600 crore input subsidy and the requested Rs 18,171 crore compensation package under the National Disaster Relief Fund.

He criticized the Centre for violating norms by delaying the release of funds and urged the Supreme Court to intervene. Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka’s substantial contribution to the Union government’s revenue and expressed disappointment over unfulfilled promises made by Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
